Benches
- Seating designed for conversation and connection
Create an urban space that invites community, togetherness and meaningful conversation. GH Form''s benches are designed to elevate your urban environmental both aesthetically and functionally. With us, you’ll find a wide range of benches – from the classic Copenhagen bench and architect-designed models to sturdy table-benches and circular benches that embrace trees, plant beds, or buildings. What all our benches have in common is attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship.
Benches customised for city needs
All benches are designed for urban needs. They are made of solid materials that can withstand even heavy wear and tear. In addition, they can be supplied with anti-graffiti paint that makes it easier to wash off any graffiti.
Our benches are available in standard sizes, but we are also happy to customise the dimensions of the benches to suit your needs, whether it's round benches, straight benches or table bench sets.
All benches can be customised to fit your urban space perfectly. The benches are delivered in the desired wood and can be painted as desired.
If you want a bench from our existing catalogue with a different type of wood, we can supply that too. Our wood range includes FSC-certified mahogany, pine, ash and oak.
Project benches
Do you have a project that requires a unique bench? We specialise in benches and have been developing and customising benches for urban spaces for decades.
We have previously collaborated with designers such as Vilhelm Lauritzen, Knud Holscher and Nanna Ditzel on unique project benches such as:
- The Dan Turèll Bench, that merges with the artwork at Dan Turèlls Plads in Gentofte.
- Metropol Benches at the train station at Kastrup Airport, which in 2001 was voted the best furnished train station in the world.
- Bispebjerg Bench, which is specially designed for Bispebjerg Hospital's protected gardens.
Renovation of benches
GH Form offers renovation of the classic Copenhagen Bench to give it new life. Renovation is a sustainable alternative to installing new benches in your urban space.
The Copenhagen Bench's cast iron gable is known for its durability and can last for generations. We sandblast and refinish the cast iron to make it look like new.
New wooden planks in mahogany, painted in the original Copenhagen green colour, are also installed. For extra protection, an anti-graffiti treatment is applied to help preserve the bench for many years. The bench looks like new - at around half the price of a new bench.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order customised benches?
Yes, many of our benches can be produced in alternative sizes depending on the project.
We have produced really long benches, benches with different radii and more.
Contact us by phone +45 59 44 09 90 about your wishes and needs.
Does GH Form renovate old Copenhagen benches?
Yes, we offer a complete renovation of the old classic benches with cast iron ends.
The cast iron end caps last for generations. We sandblast, refinish and replace the wood to make the bench look like new - the price is about half that of a new bench.
What is an anti-graffiti treatment?
It is possible to opt for a painted bench to receive an anti-graffiti treatment. The treatment forms an invisible film on the surface after application that protects against graffiti. The treatment prevents graffiti paint from penetrating the pores of the bench and can be easily removed by rinsing with warm water.
Can the benches be placed directly on the ground?
Our benches can always be placed directly on pavement. However, in many city centres it makes sense to mount the benches on a foundation.
Can you buy foundations for the bench?
Yes, the most commonly used is the concrete foundation. We have a wide range of foundation options. The foundation options further depend on the chosen product and the requirements for installation:
- Bolts to a foundation
- Founded underground
- Found by burying
- Embedding in foundation
- Bolts to load-bearing structure / floor
- Bolts to granite block
- Bolts to concrete block
What wood do you use for your benches?
We only use certified wood species that are not endangered. Our bench wood is at least FSC certified and mahogany wood is from approved plantations.
Our benches are produced in the desired material for each project, but as standard we use Danish Douglas fir, sapele mahogany, oak, azobé wood, thermo pine, pine and jatoba. Read more about our wood types here.
What is the difference between FSC and PEFC certified wood?
FSC® defines its standards according to principles of responsible forest management supported by stakeholder organisations with a focus on environmental, social and economic issues. FSC certification provides assurance and documentation that we use our forests responsibly.
PEFC is a global organisation that supports responsible forest management through forest certification and labelling of wood-based products. PEFC is the world's largest certification system for sustainable forestry. An approved and recognised eco-label for sustainable wood for consumers.
