Historic castings
- Preserve the unique history of urban spaces with reconstructions of historic castings
From street signs and cast iron benches to historic railings and lampposts, cast iron elements have been an essential part of the cityscape for centuries. These elements carry not only architectural beauty, but also an important cultural heritage. When time leaves its mark, it is crucial to preserve them through careful and precise reconstruction.
At GH Form, we produce historical mouldings of the highest quality. Historic mouldings are often part of listed and preservation-worthy buildings and play an important role in the overall historical expression of the building. We take great pride in recreating the historical elements exactly as they looked and in this way contribute to history living on in our shared urban spaces.
Preserve our shared cultural heritage
Many historical castings are unique works of art that tell a story about their time and place. Our experts ensure that the high quality and aesthetic expression of the castings are preserved. By recreating the historical mouldings in authentic materials, we ensure that our shared cultural heritage lives on.
New, unique mouldings
Do you have a project that requires new, unique mouldings? Let our experts take care of the practicalities, such as calculations, design optimisation and manufacturing. That way, you get a product that is thoroughly worked out down to the smallest detail and made with great respect for craftsmanship.
Traditional stair railing
Classic Griff A is a stair railing designed to shield basement entrances from street level. It has been a regular part of the cityscape in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg since 1920 and is often seen at entrances to smaller shops and bicycle cellars with access to courtyards, roads and pavements.
At GH Form we specialise in historical castings, here you can see a selection of the projects we have worked on:
Queen Louise Bridge, Copenhagen
Dronning Louise Bridge was completed in 1887 and is today a hub in Copenhagen. When renovating the bridge, we renovated the goosenecks, which are part of the railing along the bridge. We also renovated the classic Copenhagen benches that line the bridge on both sides.
Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen
Kongens Nytorv is the largest square in Copenhagen. The square was built in the 1600s with a statue of a knight and a parterre garden. The benches on Kongens Nytorv are unique and a piece of Danish cultural history. We have renovated the existing benches and cast new benches.
Main entrance Frederiksberg Garden
At the main entrance to Frederiksberg Gardens stand the three long, curved benches - and they have been there since the early 1900s. With respect for the history and focusing on the long benches being worthy of preservation, we have, in collaboration withDanish Agency for Culture and Palacesrenovated the three castle benches.
Albani Torv, Odense
Odense's old city centre has undergone an adventurous transformation. For Albani Torv, we have moulded markings of the postholes of the church where King Canute the Holy was murdered in 1086 and the bishop's grave that was found at the site. In this way, history lives on in the modern urban space.
