Campus Line drainage in untreated cast iron
In The Courtyard of the Future, SLA architects have created a wild, green oasis on nature's terms with a diversity of grasses, plants and trees.
Here the courtyard's challenging rainwater is transformed into a valuable resource for the residents. Instead of draining directly into the sewer, the water is used in efficient and visible rainwater solutions that together create beautiful garden spaces for community, play and sensory experiences.
The courtyard is not only an example of sustainable construction, it is also a pioneering SUDS project. As the first SUDS project in Denmark, the rainwater is biologically purified to a quality so clean that it can be used for play as a recreational element in the courtyard. In the lake, where you can take a dip, and in the canal, where you can play with boats.
In 2022, Fremtidens Gårdhave was nominated for the Building of the Year Award by the City of Copenhagen.
In 2023, the project was awarded the Concrete Innovation Award.
