Henning Larsen

Henning Larsen (1925-2013) was one of Denmark's most recognised architects and founder of Henning Larsen Architects. He is known for combining aesthetics, functionality and light in his buildings, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh, the Harpa Concert Centre in Reykjavik and the Opera House in Copenhagen. Graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture in 1952, he put light at the centre of his projects and was influenced by a Scandinavian design tradition with a focus on materials and the interaction of buildings with their surroundings.

Henning Larsen also designed urban furniture, including Plaza serieswhich includes lighting, bollards and drainage grates. The series is developed with functionality and aesthetics in focus, creating long-lasting and harmonious solutions in urban spaces. His influence on modern architecture and design remains strong and his work continues to inspire architects and designers globally.

Knud Holscher

Holscher Design is one of Scandinavia's most recognised design agencies with over 50 years of experience. Knud Holscher (b. 1930-2025) is a Danish architect and industrial designer known for his functional and minimalist design style. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1957 and worked as a partner in Arne Jacobsen's studio and later in KHR A/S.

In 1995 he founded Holscher Design, which has created significant projects in both product design and urban furniture. One of the most well-known is Pictoform series, a tactile guidance system developed to assist the blind and visually impaired, which has won both the ID Prize and the iF Award.

Holscher Design has also developed the product range Cast Iron and The Moai lamps and Nordic Bench combining simplicity, functionality and durability. Knud Holscher's work has had a major influence on both Danish and international design.

Erik Brandt Dam

Erik Brandt Dam is a Danish architect and designer specialising in urban design and landscape architecture. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, he has developed a strong professional profile that combines functionality, aesthetics and artistic treatment of public spaces.

His work is characterised by an analytical approach where context and historical references are central. He creates timeless designs that integrate harmoniously into their surroundings. Brandt Dam has developed several urban space products, including Mobilia series and Bispebjerg Bench. The Mobilia series combines robust materials with simple aesthetics, while the Bispebjerg Bench combines comfort, function and visual lightness.

Erik Brandt Dam's designs have had a major influence on modern urban design, balancing practicality with aesthetic awareness. His work creates long-lasting solutions that improve public spaces.

Nanna Ditzel

Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) was a Danish designer and architect known for her innovative and experimental design. Educated at the School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, she worked with furniture design, textile design and industrial design. Her style was characterised by organic forms, functionality and experimentation with materials and production techniques. Ditzel often challenged traditional design norms and worked closely with her husband, Jørgen Ditzel, until his death in 1961.

One of her contributions to urban street furniture is City Benchwhich combines functionality with sculptural aesthetics. The bench is an example of her ability to combine aesthetics and usability in urban spaces. Nanna Ditzel received several international design awards and her influence on both Danish and international design is still noticeable. City Bench is a symbol of her long-lasting design legacy.

Stig L. Andersson

Stig L. Andersson is a Danish architect and landscape architect, founder of SLA, a leading architecture firm in landscape architecture and urban design. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, he combines natural processes with architectural solutions to create sustainable and sensuous urban spaces. His work is characterised by an understanding of materiality, light and atmosphere, creating solutions that are both functional and aesthetically inspiring.

Stig L. Andersson has designed products such as Scenaria Round Bench, Campus series, High-Light lighting columns and Stray lightthat integrate naturally into urban spaces. The Scenaria Round Bench promotes seating and interaction, while the Campus series offers flexible products for public spaces. His lighting solutions and line drainage grates combine functionality and design.

His work is highly influential in urban design, and his ability to combine architecture, nature and technology makes his projects long-lasting.

Arkitema

Arkitema is one of Scandinavia's leading architectural firms, founded in 1969 in Aarhus, with offices in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The firm works across a wide range of architectural disciplines, from urban planning and landscape architecture to complex buildings and urban design. Arkitema's design philosophy is based on an understanding of how architecture and urban spaces can support people's quality of life, where function, aesthetics and sustainability go hand in hand.

Arkitema has developed products in Dock-Line series. The products are developed with a focus on robustness, functionality and timeless design. The series consists of urban furniture that creates a coherent public space and integrates harmoniously into urban environments. Dock-Line is characterised by durable materials and a simple, aesthetic form that ensures longevity and minimal maintenance.

Henrik Jørgensen Landscape

Henrik Jørgensen Landskab is a Danish architectural firm specialising in landscape architecture and urban design. The firm develops solutions that integrate nature and architecture with a focus on functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. Their design process takes into account the surroundings, choice of materials and user needs.

Henrik Jørgensen has created Drops seriesincluding wooden hole grates and linear drainage. Tree hole grates protect tree roots in urban environments and create a harmonious integration into the urban space. The line drainage elements ensure efficient water management and contribute to aesthetic drainage in public spaces.

Henrik Jørgensen Landskab works holistically, with biodiversity, climate adaptation and urban life at the centre. Their projects create functional and inviting urban spaces. Thomas E. Alken

Thomas E. Alken (b. 1970) is a Danish designer and owner of Format Design, which he founded in 1997. Known for his functional and user-friendly approach to design, he works with wood, metal and composite materials to create timeless and durable solutions. With a background from the Danish School of Design, he specialises in furniture design and product development.

Alken's design philosophy is based on Nordic simplicity, where form and function come together. He has designed a range of furniture and urban furniture with a focus on seating comfort and durability.

Among his contributions to urban design are Avenue Bench and Pocket Park Stolen. The Avenue Bench is simple and comfortable, while the Pocket Park Chair combines lightness and functionality. Both products reflect his attention to detail and the interplay between materials and surroundings.

Alken's work has had a major influence on modern Danish design, especially in furniture and urban furnishings.

Kristine Jensen

For several years, architect Kristine Jensen and her studio have established themselves as one of Denmark's leading players in landscape architecture. With a sharp focus on creating functional and aesthetic outdoor spaces, the practice has left its mark on a wide range of significant projects across the country - from urban harbour areas in Aarhus to landscapes in Greenland.

One of the studio's notable contributions is Orbit series, developed specifically for the Port of Aarhus. The series consists of line dewatering grate and wooden hole gratedesigned to support the dynamic life of the harbour area. Orbit combines robust materials with an organic form language. The elements are created with respect for both the site's history and its future development as a vibrant urban space.
